Dayara Bugyal Trek

For centuries, shepherds from distant lands have guided their flocks to graze in the lush expanses of Dayara, adding to its timeless beauty. They have come back with stories of the abundance of grass and splendor of the mighty Himalayan peaks and passes cradling the meadows.

Gaumukh Trek

The Gaumukh Trek is a popular trekking route located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand District Uttarkashi. It is a challenging trek that takes you to the source of the Ganges River at the Gaumukh Glacier, which is located at an altitude of 13,200 feet. The trek starts from Gangotri, which is a small town situated on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. The trail takes you through dense forests, alpine meadows, and rocky terrain, with stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. The trek is usually done over a period of 6-8 days, covering a distance of approximately 18 KM each way. Along the way, you will pass through several small villages and campsites, including Chirbasa, Bhojbasa, and Tapovan. The highlight of the trek is reaching the Gaumukh Glacier, which is a massive ice formation that resembles a cow’s mouth, hence the name “Gaumukh.” The glacier is also considered a holy site by Hindus, as it is the source of the Ganges River, which is considered a sacred river in India.

Tapovan Vasuki Tal Trek

Vasuki Taal is a high glacial lake situated at an impressive altitude of 14,200 feet above sea level in Kedarnath Dham of Uttarakhand. One can spot Brahma Kamal and other Himalayan flowers blooming around the placid lake, making the aura divine. The Himalayas have been revered as the abode of divinity, since the dawn of Indian religious thought. Several venerated pilgrimage sites dot the foothills and the peaks of the Himalayas. The Ganges, revered as a holy river originates in the glaciers in the insurmountable heights of the mighty Himalayan ranges. Most noteworthy of the Himalayan pilgrimage sites are Badrinath and Kedarnath.

Nelong

The Nelong Valley, also known as the ‘Secret Hindustan,’ is a breathtaking and secluded valley located in the District Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, India. Situated near the Indo-China border, it was once a restricted area due to security reasons but was later opened for tourism, albeit with certain restrictions. The valley boasts stunning landscapes with snow-capped peaks, lush meadows, glaciers, and a serene river flowing through it. About Uttarkashi

After the merger of the erstwhile Tehri princely state in independent India, Uttarkashi was created as a separate district on 24 February 1960 from the administrative and security point of view. Apart from the political background of Uttarkashi district, its ancient historical base and traditional richness. On the basis of mythology, it is believed that Bhagiratha had performed penance here and Lord Vrahyama was pleased and had given Bhagirathi the boon of taking care of the Ganga by Lord Shiva. Since then, this city came to be known as the city of Vishwanath and later it came to be known as Uttarkashi. It is said that the word Badahat has been used for Uttarkashi in the Puranas and in Kedar Khand. Mention of Uttarkashi Vishwanath Temple is found in Kedar Khand itself. It is known from the inscription of Shakti Temple in front of Vishwanath Temple that Pokhari was built in this district around 576 AD. Badahat was under the control of the king. On the basis of Trishul inscription of Uttarkashi, Nirapati named Nagvanshi Nageshwar built a Shiva temple in Badahat and the son of Ganeshwar had established a Shakti (Trishul) in front of Shiva temple. Badahat was a major district during the rule of Gupta dynasty Samudragupta. Badahat was a major district during the Kunindra period. Even during the reign of Kunindra kings, the name of Badahat appears among the major settlements, on the basis of which it can be said that the historical background of Uttarkashi is very ancient and mythological. The strong evidence of its historicity is the inscriptions written on it. However, there is a lot of difference of opinion among the scholars regarding the time of this inscription and the person who got it written. According to the Upanayana Parva which is mentioned in the Mahabharata, there were castes named Kritus, Uttara Karura, Tirasaj in Badahat Uttarkashi. It has also been mentioned in the Mahabharata that one of the first five branches of Aryans was caste. There was Tirasaj which was situated between the Yamuna and Purusini rivers. Among them, the first king named Dev Deshab was born. Apart from this, Khas Kritus Uttara Kunindra Prantgana is mentioned in the Upanayana Parva itself. In the Rajasuya Yagya of Yudhishthir, these castes presented wonderful gifts to Yudhishthir. Duryodhana is also worshiped at many important places in Uttarkashi district. The district is the center of culture of Mahabharata period. Even during the Katyuri rule period from 740 AD to 900 AD, Badahat Uttarkashi was the center of manufacturing of statues like Baijnath Shimli Jageshwar etc. This area came under the Katyuri kings. At that time this area was under the influence of the rulers of Tibet. Uttarkashi Gangotri Motor Road 1.621 ft. It is situated at a height of 1000 meters and in the Puranas it has been called Soumya Kashi. This city is situated on the right bank of Ganga Bhagirathi, falling from the river towards the east and south. In its north, there is Assi Ganga and in the west, Varuna river. The area between Varuna and Assi is It is famous by the name of Varanasi.
